Keep gear mission-ready

The Equipment page opens on one question: what can we take right now. Every item resolves to a single state, worked out from where it is and what condition it is in — you never set it by hand.

• Ready — in the cache, serviceable, nothing overdue
• Attention — usable, but something needs looking at soon
• Issued or Deployed — out with a member or on a mission
• Out of service — broken, missing, in repair, or failed inspection
• Retired — kept for the record, not for use

Go to Equipment → Inspections → Templates and build a checklist for a category — a rope check, a rig check, a medical bag restock. Each line is pass, fail, or pass with notes, and you set how often it comes due.

Until you create a template, SAR21 says nothing about inspections. Teams that do not track inspections on a schedule are never prompted about them.

On the mobile app, open an item and tap Inspect. Targets are big enough for gloves, each line saves as you go, and the whole flow works with no signal — it syncs when you get back in range.

A failed line takes the item out of service immediately, so it cannot be signed out until it is dealt with.

Members can flag a problem with a piece of gear without being able to edit the asset record — whoever notices a fault is often not the person who administers the inventory. Reports become tickets you can track, assign, and close.

Once a week, members who can inspect or edit equipment receive a single summary if anything is overdue or out of service. One message per team, never one per item, and only to people who can act on it.
